Memorial Day Weekend at Home in Memphis

Memorial Day asks us to pause — to remember and honor the men and women who gave their lives in service to our country, and to reflect on the communities and freedoms their sacrifice helped protect.

It also arrives at a time of year when people naturally spend more time outside, with family, friends and neighbors. Across MRG apartment communities, we see how meaningful those everyday connections can be.

At @the Park, residents don’t just pass through the shared spaces — they use them. Neighbors gather outside to watch sports, spend time together, and build friendships that last beyond a lease term. It’s a reminder that great gathering spaces are only truly great when they become part of residents’ real lives.

At Madison@McLean, that same idea shows up in a different way. When residents weren’t using the foosball table in the community room, the team listened and replaced it with a pool table. Now, it’s a space residents actually enjoy — a small change that made the amenity more useful, more welcoming and more connected to how people want to spend time at home.

Other communities come together in their own ways. At The Signature at Schilling Farms, summer evenings may include family movie nights by the pool. At The Westbury and Champion Hills at Windyke, weekly food trucks bring residents together in the cove.

At Audubon Downs and Midtown Place, residents often connect through a shared love of pets. And who are we kidding? At just about every MRG community, pets are part of the social fabric.

These moments are simple, but they matter. In a time when the world can feel divided, community reminds us of what we share — and why creating welcoming, well-cared-for spaces is so important.

This Memorial Day weekend, we pause with gratitude and remembrance. We’re honored to serve our residents, support our teams and care for communities across the Memphis metro area and North Mississippi.
