We never need much of an excuse to celebrate Memphis, but September 1 gives us an especially good one. If you're not from around here, 9/01 matches Memphis’ 901 area code—making 901 Day a celebration of the people, neighborhoods and local businesses that make our city home.

Germantown: Bain Barbecue
Bain is serving a pulled pork sandwich with slaw for $9.01. Its Germantown location makes this an easy neighborhood pick for residents at The Westbury and Champion Hills at Windyke. See Bain’s 901 Day post.

Collierville: Guthrie’s Chicken
Guthrie’s is offering its Original Box Combo for $9.01 at Memphis-area locations, including its shop on West Poplar in Collierville. The Signature at Schilling Farms residents have a particularly convenient option. 

Southeast Memphis: The Wing Guru
At the Mt. Moriah location only, choose six boneless wings with fries or 10 party wings with fries for $9.01. Flavor charges are extra, and the first 25 customers eat free. It is a close-to-home option for residents at The Ellington at Kirby and Monticello. See The Wing Guru’s Instagram post.

Midtown & Downtown: Slider Inn
Both Slider Inn patios have all-day specials, including two Memphis sliders with fries for $9.01 and $9.01 Jameson slushies. It is an easy stop for residents in MRG’s Midtown and Downtown communities.

East Memphis: Bog & Barley
Bog & Barley is offering a $9.01 Pimento Cheese Toastie and $9.01 cocktails made with local spirits—a convenient 901 Day stop near several MRG communities in East Memphis.

Two more local deals worth knowing: Belltower Coffee says the first 100 customers at its Highland or Shelby Farms Park location can receive a card for one free drink each month for a year. Memphis-based Smooth Like Jas has posted all lotions and body oils for $9.01, with online ordering available.

Keep the 901 Spirit Going This Weekend

Football season is officially back, and the Tigers’ first home game keeps the 901 theme going. Memphis hosts Arkansas State in the 901 Game at 6 p.m. Saturday, September 5, at the newly renovated Simmons Bank Liberty Stadium—just down the street from Audubon Downs.

More Ways to Celebrate Memphis

Support local arts. The Memphis Symphony Orchestra is launching Orchestra 901 on September 1. For $9.01 per month, members receive one Level 4 or 5 ticket to most MSO performances, subject to availability, with no long-term commitment. 

Give back. September 1 also begins Childhood Cancer Awareness Month. St. Jude is inviting Memphians to mark 901 Day with a $9.01 donation in support of its patients and families. Celebrate 901 Day with St. Jude.
