In Downtown: Celebrate King Day 2015

On January 19th, the National Civil Rights Museum will host the annual King Day Celebration, a day of service, entertainment and community fellowship from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. To mark the 50th anniversary year of the Voting Rights Act, a voter registration drive will be held in the museum’s Guest Lounge. Guests will be treated to entertainment on the outdoor Founders Park stage, including African dance and drums, Soulsville Academy and the Overton High School Jazz Quartet with emcee DJ Len Williamson. The stage will also feature Dr. King’s audio recordings. Children’s activities will include crafts and storytelling. Special guests, local radio personalities and food vendors will also be onsite. Admission is $5 or $2 for visitor's bringing a non-perishable food donation for the Mid-South Food Bank Drive. Click here for more information.
