When it comes to cleaning, a lot of people go about decluttering their apartment all wrong. Here are a few common decluttering mistakes that you can avoid:
Mistake #1- Taking on too much- Don’t try to organize everything in one day. Chances are you won’t have the focus or energy to declutter for 8 hours. This will only lead to frustration and make cleaning that much more difficult. Instead, set aside 2 or 3 hours so you don’t burn out.
Mistake #2- Not completing tasks- Once you’ve made up your mind where certain are going or how things will be organized then follow through with it. Be sure to finish the process you have started. Take the trash out, take the recycling out and load your car up with all the items you will be donating.
Mistake #3- Neglecting regular upkeep– After you’ve conquered your mess and have become organized, it’s time to realize that the work doesn’t end. You should always expect upkeep. Do your best to keep the area looking the same so you don’t have to tackle another mess a month from now.
