May 19, 2016

With Memorial Day around the corner, now is a great time to dig out those grilling tools and plan a cookout. It’s much more fun than cooking in your apartment and the food tastes great!

Fire up the grill!

Here are a few grilling tips to get you started:

  • Preheat your grill 15 minutes before you start cooking to make sure it reaches the right temperature (and to kill any bacteria).
  • After preheating, use a long-handled wire brush to clean off the grill rack.
  • Use tongs to rub a vegetable oil-soaked paper towel over your grill rack to keep food from sticking.
  • Keep a squirt bottle of water near the grill to quickly douse any flare-ups.

And remember, the fire marshal states that grills must not be within 10 feet of any building so no grilling on apartment balconies, in breezeways, or on patios!
