Be a Good Neighbor: Clean Up After Your Pet

July 27, 2020

Dealing with pet waste is one of those topics that no one likes to talk about, but every pet owner has a responsibility to properly dispose of it. And there are probably few things that could aggravate the other residents in your apartment community more than stepping in a “doggy land mine” left by your four-legged friend.

But there’s another important reason to pick up after your pet. Pet waste contains bacteria that are harmful to us and our water. Leaving it on the sidewalk or lawn means harmful bacteria will be transported into the storm drains and then into our lakes and streams.  Whether in your yard or on a walk, promptly dispose of your pet’s waste in the trash or down the toilet where it will be properly treated.
