Celebrating Our Veterans

November 11, 2020

Veterans of World War II at a Memorial Day service.

The first Veterans Day occurred on November 11, 1919 to recognize veterans who served in World War I – known at the time as “The Great War.”  WWI officially ended when the Treaty of Versailles was signed on June 28, 1919, though fighting actually ceased seven months earlier when an armistice between the Allied nations and Germany went into effect on the eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month. Today Veterans Day honors American veterans of all wars.

Thank you to those who are serving and have served our country.
